Norwalk Soccer Splits With Pella
Norwalk’s soccer squads exited Tuesday night splitting their matches with Little Hawkeye Conference foe Pella.
The No. 1 in Class 2A Warriors’ girls edged out No. 12 Pella, 1-0, at home. The victory puts Norwalk at 6-0 on the season and marks their fourth shutout in six matches. The Warriors have now outscored opponents in 2022 thus far 33-2 and are likely to maintain their No. 1 ranking. Coach Andrew Messer tells KNIA Sports that he is looking for his team to stay hungry.
“I think we’re hungry. There’s a saying, be humble but be hungry. I really want to make sure we are kind of keeping to that. We want to get everything we possibly can out of this season. We wanna do it as a team, we wanna do it together, and we just want to stay hungry.”
The Warriors’ boys continued their slow start to the season, losing at Pella, 2-1. Norwalk had a 1-0 lead midway through the second half, but could not seal the deal, dropping to 0-4.
Both teams will be back in action for their next match Thursday as the girls will travel to Southeast Polk, while the boys will be at home against Little Hawkeye Conference foe Pella Christian.
