The Indianola School Board tabled the bids on the Auxiliary Building Project at their meeting Tuesday, after the bids came in over the projected amount. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the estimated cost was approximately $6 million, and bids came in around $600,000 over that amount. Sathoff also said the board tabled the bids to continue to review information and learn more about the volatile market conditions.
“We just hit the pause button. We want to make sure we understand what we are approving or not approving, and I anticipate at our next April meeting we’ll have a situation where we either approve the lowest responsible bidder or reject all the bids and decide to try again and hopefully have a well-defined project we can afford.”
