Norwalk’s boys’ soccer squad got their first win of the season at home against Pella Christian, while the girls defeated Southeast Polk.

The Warriors’ boys shutout the Little Hawkeye Conference rival Eagles, 5-0, at Mineart Field. Norwalk got out to a fast start and did not let up the rest of the way. The Warriors came into the match scoring just three goals all season, and they nearly tripled that total Thursday night. Four different Warriors scored on the night, with Jack Brown scoring two. Izec Dingman, Spencer Taylor, and Drake Stageman all chipped in with a goal as well. Coach Dustin Kralik says that winning their first match of the season was a weight off their shoulders.

“It was a bit of a relief, finally able to put some goals on the scoreboard. We don’t think the record matches the ability that we put out on the field right now. We feel we are better than what we played so far. But, we are really young and so we are just trying to find the right pieces to the puzzle and how they fit. We think we found a little of it tonight, so we will test it out tomorrow.”

The No. 1 in Class 2A Warriors’ girls continued their dominant start to the season, defeating Southeast Polk, 3-1. Norwalk got three goals from three different players as Reagan Teut, Anna Larson, and Jocelyn Bice put the ball in the net. Hailey Schreiber, Marin Randall, and Serenity Madonia all had an assist. The Warriors improved to 7-0 on the season.

The boys’ squad will be back in action today for a tournament at Des Moines Valley. Their first match of the tournament is against Ankeny and will begin at 5:00 PM. The girls will be back in action Tuesday for a home Little Hawkeye Conference match against Oskaloosa.
