Pella nearly swept the championship brackets Saturday at the Knoxville Boys Tennis Invitational winning the team title with 31 points, outdistancing itself from runner-up North Polk, who scored 18 points. Knoxville tied for 4th place with five total points. In singles Joshua Roozeboom fell to North Polk’s Ethan Moon 8-2 in the championship match while the Pella teams of Caleb Briggs and Jack Briggs defeated fellow teammates Cashen Thompson and Cameron Rowe 8-2. Ben Van Gorp of Pella finished 4th in singles after falling to Nathan Crabb of North Polk 8-6. Knoxville got a 5th place finish from the doubles team of Grant Liston and Joe Ferguson. After getting down to a duo from Centerville 7-4 they roared back to win 9-7. Knoxville will host Chariton on Tuesday while Pella heads to Newton on Monday.
