After Pella Christian’s lone spring sporting event Monday was canceled, the Eagles seven spring sports teams are set to be in action today.
The Pella Christian golf team kicks off the action today with the second Little Hawkeye Conference regular season meet of the season at the Westwood Golf Course in Newton beginning at noon.
The Eagles tennis teams then take on Oskaloosa in a Little Hawkeye Conference showdown. The #8 ranked girls squad travels to Oskaloosa High School, while the boys play host to the Indians with both matches beginning at 4:15 p.m. The Pella Christian boys squad is coming off of a 2-0 week last week and Head Coach Aaron Fitzgerald tells KRLS Sports that the growth of his players has helped the team improve.
“As guys are competing, they’re making smart choices with their shots but they’re not giving up on the techniques and things we’ve been working on. The guys are being consistent when they get into match play, and we’re just starting to see that consistency come into play.”
The Pella Christian track and field teams are next up on the schedule Tuesday, hoping to get just their third full meet in this season at 4:30 p.m. The Eagles boys track and field team heads to BGM High School for the Bear Trax Classic, while the girls squad heads to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont for their meet.
Rounding out the night for Pella Christian spring sports is the boys and girls soccer games at 5:30 p.m. The Eagles girls soccer team will host Grinnell tonight, while the boys team will look to bounce back from going 0-3 a week ago at Grinnell against the winless Tigers.
