The Knoxville American Legion Post 168 held its monthly meeting. American Legion member Conrad Nelson spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about what events they have coming up.

“We just finished our selection of scholarships to be given to high school seniors. This year we are giving eight scholarships to seniors who are going to a vocational school or a college. In May we’ll be putting flags up at the grave markers in Graceland cemetery, there are over 1,200 flags that we put up at the cemetery. Then around Memorial Day, we do about 250 flags that we call the Avenue of Flags and that is always rewarding to do.”

The next American Legion meeting is May,10 at 5:00 pm in the Old Rec Center meeting room, all American Legion members are welcome to attend as well as any veterans who are interested in joining.
