It was a very busy day of sports for Knoxville as seven teams were in action on Tuesday.
Panther Boys Golf Defeats Van Meter At Pine Knolls
The boys golf squad got on the links for the first time in over a week and took full advantage at Pine Knolls Country Club with a 153-164 win over Van Meter. Evan Smith shot a 33 for medallist honors. Carson Uitermarkt had a 39 while Beau Leisure shot a 40. Knoxville heads to Pella on Thursday to play at Bos Landen.
Knoxville Tennis Squads Split With Chariton
On the tennis courts, the Panthers squads had opposite results with the girls winning in Chariton 8-1. Janie Maasdam, Jayden Streigle, Laila Tiller, Kate Schneider, and Riley Dailey all recorded singles wins. The Panthers swept the doubles matches. The boys played Chariton at the Joel Tonda Tennis Complex and fell to the Chargers 9-0.

Knoxville Girls Soccer Routs Fairfield, Boys Lose To Des Moines Christian
On the Pitch at Randy Wilson Track the Knoxville Girls rolled over Fairfield 8-0. Taylor Jones nailed four goals with Hanna Linsley also getting a hat trick with three and Janae Baker with a goal. Assists came from Kodi Cram, Raegan Cook, and Linsley. Knoxville is now 3-5 on the season with Chariton visiting on Monday. The boys fell to Des Moines Christian 8-1. Tyler Kearney got the only goal for Knoxville with Emmett Schmidt on the assist, and John Buttell had six saves. Knoxville continues its busy week with a match at Chariton on Friday.
Knoxville Track and Field Squads 5th at Ottumwa
Both Knoxville Track and Field Squads placed 5th at the Don Newell Classic in Ottumwa on Tuesday. The boys had several 3rd place finishes and a win from T.J. DeJong in the long jump. He also placed 3rd in the 200 and was on the 3rd place sprint medley team that ran in a time of 1:41.44. Kaden Curry, Kaden McGill, and Seth Walraven were also on the sprint medley team. McGill was also 3rd in the 800. Also getting medals were the 4×400 team of DeJong Koby Higginbotham, Seth Walraven, and Kaden McGill along with the distance medley team of Hayden Willoughby, Chaz Graves, Kaiden Smith, and Kaden Curry. Coach Eric Kellar was glad to see several of his guys in relays. He says during workouts the fastest guys are usually laying down the fastest times and hopes to see what his runners can do in live action.
Kellar: “The fastest guys rise to the top in the workouts. I’ll need to get more individual events at conference and relays is where we need splits and when they get into a high pressure situation are the going to gut it out and not let them pass.”
For the girls, it was the throwing tandem of Ciara Heffron and Ashlyn Finarty going 1-2 in the discus with Ciara winning with a throw of 112.5 feet and Finarty with a throw of 105 feet 7 inches which was a personal record. Ashlyn came back to win the shot put with a toss of 39 feet 4.5 inches also a PR. The Panthers head to Washington on Thursday.
