Thrive Knoxville will be holding their annual Spring into Parks event Sunday, April 24 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm. Thrive Knoxville Board member Cassi Pearson spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the event.
“This is the fourth year we have held this event. It started in 2018 but in 2020 we had to cancel due to Covid. Spring into Parks is a time for volunteers in our community to join us and help clean up some of our city parks. We will be doing a little bit of raking, repotting plants, and we will pick up trash.”
Pearson tells us about a new project that will start with this year’s event.
“Three of our entrances where the city signs are at is another area we are looking to beautify in the next couple of years. This year we are just going to start with cleaning efforts. We will send a few groups to those locations so they can work around the signs. One of the most notable ones is probably down by WalMart; there’s quite a bit of work just to get rid of the weeds around the sign. In future years we will need to write some grants so we can do some planting and really spruce up those areas.”
If you are interested in volunteering you can show up at Panther Park 309 West Main Street in Knoxville at 1:00 pm on April 24. Volunteers are asked to bring their own work gloves but all other materials will be provided.
