After much of the area received more than half an inch of rain Wednesday as showers and storms moved through, a dry day today will give way to overnight precipitation tonight through Friday afternoon and again late Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, a marginal risk for severe weather is in place from the Storm Prediction Center tonight and Friday, with scattered thunderstorms potentially bringing hail and some strong winds. While those will clear out by late afternoon, it could bring 1 to 1 1/2″ of at-times heavy rainfall locally.
Better chances for intense thunderstorms will be later in the day this Saturday as a strong cold front pushes through. That round could also bring locally heavy rainfall, with higher amounts possible with severe storms.
A cool start to next week will lead to a gradual warm up by the middle of next week.
