Another busy Thursday awaits the Knoxville Sports Squads today beginning with both boys and girls golf squads heading to separate 18 hole invitationals. The boys will play at Pella’s Bos Landen while the girls travel to Oskaloosa. Coach Barry Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is getting close to locking in the top six for his varsity, and there has been competition at those spots all season.
Smith: “We know what we’re going to get basically 1-4 each time. We’re just searching for those 5-6 spots and seeing who will be consistent. Probably by the week of the 25th or even that day we play Pella and Gilbert we should have our top six solidified.”
The Panthers will see Pella and defending State 3A Champion Gilbert today. Smith adds the five and six spots need to get more consistent in case they have to use those scores. The tennis courts will be busy for the Panthers as well with the girls traveling to Davis County and the boys hosting the Mustangs at the Joel Tonda Courts. After getting in a good meet and having solid times and distances, the Panther track and field squads go to Washington.
