Iowa Senator, Joni Ernst toured Weiler in Knoxville on Wednesday. Ernst spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about what she learned from her tour.
“I’m continuing to learn about supply chain issues. The labor demand as they are looking to expand and they are looking to attract enough workers which started a talk on housing, and having enough housing to attract new families. The new development coming will help the entire community.”
Ernst talked about what can be done about the housing issues.
“We have been talking about that and there are already a number of tools that exist out there for tax credits that will go to housing areas and there are other opportunities to explore.”
Pat Weiler, the President, and CEO of Weiler talked about the importance of Senator Ernst’s visit.
“I think anything we can do as Iowans to inform Senator Ernst about issues we are facing is good for us. It helps her and the way she looks at things as she is legislating and I think all of that is a positive.”
The tour was hosted by Weiler and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers and is a part of Ernst’s 99 county tour.
