Pleasantville Girls 1st, Boys 2nd in Home Triangular

 

Both of Pleasantville’s golf squads competed with two of the best teams in the West Central Conference Thursday on their home course.

 

The Trojans’ girls finished first in their triangular with Des Moines Christian and reigning state champion Van Meter. Pleasantville finished with a score of 216, five strokes ahead of the defending state champions. Kristen Roe and Leah Adreon finished as the two low golfers in the meet. Roe placed first with a 50 and Adreon placed second with a 51. Riley Thill rounded out the top three with a 55.

 

The Trojans’ boys placed third in the triangular, just four strokes behind second-place Van Meter with a score of 174. Mason Scheve and Andrew Pender tied for the low score for Pleasantville with a score of 41. Larry Remster and Jake Hiemstra tied for third on the Trojans with 46. Jaxx Lovell scored a 39.

 

Pleasantville’s girls will be back in action for a tournament at the Preserve on Rathbun Lake, hosted by Moravia. The tournament begins at 10:00 AM. Pleasantville’s boys will be in action Tuesday for a triangular at Panorama.

 

Pleasantville Girls Track 6th at Baxter, Boys Track 8th at Martensdale

 

Both of Trojans’ track and field squads finished with top ten finishes in their meets Thursday night.

 

The Trojans’ girls placed sixth at the Lady Bolt Relays in Baxter. Pleasantville finished with 50 team points, nine ahead of seventh-place Montezuma and nine behind fifth-place Des Moines Christian. The Trojans had two second-place finishes in the meet. Pleasantville placed second in the 400 meter shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:16. The Trojans also placed second in the 4×100 meter relay with a time of 52.87 seconds.

 

The Trojans’ boys placed eighth at the Martensdale-St. Mary’s boys’ invitational Thursday. Pleasantville finished with 29.33 points, 1.33 points ahead of ninth-place Nodaway Valley and 6.67 points behind seventh-place Albia. The Trojans had one first-place finish in the meet, which came from Dayson Leerhoff in the High Jump with a jump of 6’2”.

 

Both track squads will be back in action Monday. The Trojans’ girls will travel to PCM while the boys will compete at Des Moines Christian.
