Norwalk’s girls’ soccer squad has continued their dominance throughout the season, maintaining their No. 1 in Class 2A ranking and staying undefeated.

The Warriors currently sit at 9-0, including a 3-0 record in Little Hawkeye Conference play. Norwalk won their two matches this week by a combined score of 16-0 including scoring a season-high 13 goals against Oskaloosa. The Warriors also have six shutouts this season, and have only allowed three goals in nine matches. Coach Andrew Messer tells KNIA Sports that he is impressed with Goalie Zoey Davenport’s development this season.

“She’s got some growing to do, but I think she made a great save at Pella. That gave her confidence that builds on confidence. We’re challenging her, we are putting her in some situations that she has never been in. She’s learning from her mistakes and that is what she needs to do.”

Messer’s Warriors are back in action at Little Hawkeye Conference foe Newton Tuesday.
