While most eyes will focus on the best Olympic and collegiate athletes from around the country and the most talented Iowa high school athletes during the Drake Relays, the next generation of Pella High School standouts will get to go to the famous Blue Oval. Local Middle School Qualifiers include:

Pella Boys – 4×100, Distance Medley Relay
Pella Girls – 4×100
Indianola Boys – 4×100
Indianola Girls – 4×100, Distance Medley Relay
Norwalk Boys – 4×100, Distance Medley Relay
Norwalk Girls – 4×100

The Pella Middle School track and field programs have more than 200 students participating — which is over half of the current student body, which Middle School Activities Director Scott Tjeerdsma says is reflective of the growth of the sport locally.

The 4×100-meter relay will be run in a timed finals format of five heats for both girls and boys. The distance medley relay teams will be selected from 2022 verified meet results and will be run in a timed finals format of one heat for both girls and boys.
