The Indianola boys tennis team defeated Warren County rival Norwalk Monday 10-1, while the Indians girls soccer team dropped a tough matchup with Grinnell 2-1.
The Indians boys got wins in singles action from Jackson Becker, Lane McGraw, Sam Thessen, Nathan Barth, and Zane Kolosik, while the duos of Becker/McGraw, Casey Daughenbaugh/Thessen, Barth/Kolosik, Jake Gioffredi/Carson Graham, and Brant Gicante/Erik Jensen all won in doubles play. Assistant Coach Nathan Carlin tells KNIA Sports the Indians have a good mix of senior leadership and large numbers from underclassman, and that makes the team much better in the long run as the younger guys get to learn by example.
The Indians improve to 7-3 and travel to North Polk today for a non-conference meet.
The Indianola girls soccer team fell to Little Hawkeye Conference rival Grinnell 2-1 Monday evening. Remy Sivertsen scored the lone goal for the Indians, who fall to 3-9 on the season. Indianola will take a week off from competition, hosting conference rival Oskaloosa next Tuesday.
