The Pella boys and girls tennis teams continue their strong dual season performances, as the ranked Dutch earned a pair of clean 11-0 sweeps of Newton Monday.

Both events were the third try at getting competition between the two conference schools after two weather related delays, and were still played in less-than-ideal conditions.

The #3 Dutch girls continued several undefeated singles seasons from Emily Blom, Alloree Else, Claire Smock, Allie Singer, and Lily VanDusseldorp. Amelia Poe bounced back from a loss last week 6-0, 6-0. Willa Kelpe, Demrie Vander Leest, Mallory Westerkamp, Kennedy Van Vark, and Bryn Higginbotham joined those singles athletes to earn a clean sheet.

A move to the football stadium did not assist the #9 in 2A Pella girls soccer team, as the Dutch continued struggling against ranked foes in a 3-0 loss to #2 in 1A Des Moines Christian. After falling behind 1-0, Pella gave up a goal in the final minute of the 1st half that took the wind out of the home team’s sails heading into the break. The Dutch fall to 5-5, with all of those losses coming in their last six matches and all coming to ranked teams.
