Norwalk Boys and Girls Tennis Lose to Pella
Norwalk’s tennis squads struggled to get anything going, dropping their matches to Little Hawkeye Conference foe Pella.
The Warriors’ boys lost on the road to Pella, 10-1. This loss is Norwalk’s fourth out of their five matches, including three coming against Little Hawkeye Conference opponents. The Warriors’ lone win came in from Grant Kimball and Nathaniel Adams in the final doubles match of the evening. With the loss, Norwalk drops to 1-4 on the season and 1-3 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. Their lone win came against Newton.
The Warriors’ girls also lost to Pella, 10-1. This is Norwalk’s first match loss of the season, dropping their record to 3-1. The Warriors’ lone match win came in the second doubles match of the day from Ava and Olivia Johnson in straight sets. Norwalk also is now 2-1 in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
The Warriors’ girls will be back in action Thursday at Pella Christian, while the boys will be in action Friday against Oskaloosa.
Norwalk Boys Track Places 3rd at Carlisle
Norwalk’s boys’ track and field continued their season of high finishes, placing third in the Wildcat Relays at Carlisle Tuesday.
The Warriors finished with 100 team points, two ahead of fourth-place Indianola and 19 behind second-place Carlisle. Norwalk had one first-place finish during the meet, which came from Grant Miller in 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.29 seconds. A school record was also set, as the shuttle hurdle relay team of Miller, Braeden Carlson, Daniel Webster, and Hunter Benson, finished with a time of 1:02.61. Norwalk has finished all six of their meets in the top four.
Norwalk will be back on the track Thursday at Bondurant-Farrar.
Norwalk Boys and Girls Soccer Shut Down Newton
Both of Norwalk’s soccer squads came away with quality victories over Little Hawkeye Conference foe Newton Tuesday night.
The No. 1 in Class 2A Warriors’ girls improved to 10-0 on the season with a 6-0 shutout victory over the Cardinals. Norwalk also got their seventh shutout of the season from goalkeeper Zoey Davenport. Jocelyn Bice had five of Norwalk’s six goals. The other goal came from Braelyn Clark. Serenity Madonia and Anna Larson had two assists on the night.
The Warriors’ boys broke their three-match losing streak to defeat Newton, 3-2. Norwalk got two goals from Spencer Taylor and one from Grant Fletcher. Taylor, Jack Brown, and Tavin Ferner all came away with an assist. With the win, Norwalk improves to 4-7 on the season and 3-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference Play.
Norwalk’s boys will be back in action Thursday against Des Moines Lincoln, while the girls will be back on the pitch Monday at home against Winterset.
Norwalk Boys Golf Second at Oskaloosa, Girls Golf Travels to Indianola For Little Hawkeye Conference Triangular
Norwalk’s boys’ golf squad came away with a second-place finish at Oskaloosa Tuesday, while the girls’ golf squad will be back in action for their next meet today which will be a Little Hawkeye Conference triangular at Indianola.
The Warriors’ boys finished with a score of 321, five strokes behind first-place Pella. Ryan Jermier and Lance Nielsen finished tied for the low score for Norwalk, finishing with 78 apiece. Nathan Lesley placed second on the Warriors with a score of 82.
The Warriors are coming off their lowest finish of the season, placing seventh at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa last Thursday. Emily Juergens was the low golfer for Norwalk, finishing with a score of 101. The Warriors will be competing with Indianola and Oskaloosa. This will be the second time in the last two meets Norwalk will be on the same course as Oskaloosa.
The triangular at the Indianola Country Club gets underway at 2:30 PM.
