Pella Christian will have five spring sports teams in action today, with four of the five teams competing away from Eagle Lane.

The #9 ranked Eagles girls tennis squad is the lone team playing at home this afternoon, as they look to bounce back from a loss to Indianola Tuesday against Norwalk in a Little Hawkeye Conference match. The Pella Christain boys tennis team will put their four-match winning streak on the line at Centerville where they fell 8-1 last spring. Both tennis squad’s matches begin at 4:15 p.m.

Both Eagles track and field squads will make the short trip across town to compete in the Tulip Time Relays at 4:30 p.m. The Pella Christian boys come into the meet fresh off of winning the E-B-F Rocket Relays on Tuesday, while the girls team comes in well rested having not competed since April 19th when they finished ninth at the E-B-F Girls Relays.

Rounding out the night for Pella Christian spring sports, is the boys soccer team. The Eagles will look to snap their 5 match losing streak tonight against Sigourney-Keota. Four out of the five losses have come on the road this season, and Head Coach Jake Fancher says his team needs better energy playing away from home.

“They’ve got to learn how to provide their own energy, and I think some guys need to step up. The coaches and I can only do so much, it’s got to be the players that do it and bring it. So, we’ve been having those conversations, and I think we’re going to do better on the road.”

Tonight’s soccer match between Pella Christian and Sigourney-Keota at 5 p.m. will be the first meeting between the two teams.
