The Indianola School Board received public comment at their meeting Tuesday regarding the proposed “rating” system for the school libraries content. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News both sides of the issue have had times at meetings where they have spoken, and he appreciates the fact that despite disagreements on how to handle the issue, Indianola residents have had a good discourse and addressed the board and administration with respect.

“I would say I really appreciated the civility of the people who commented on both sides. That’s something that I really appreciate about our district. People can have different opinions, they can share them, the board can consider them and try to take the appropriate action they feel for our students. It’s just very nice to have a good civil discourse at a time when people go into attack mode pretty frequently.”
