wood-carving

The Knoxville Public Library will be holding an Open House for local artist Dennis Johansen today from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm. Johansen spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about how he got started in woodcarving.

“I lived in Plano, Texas and there was a woodcarver there, and he had a sign that said woodcarving classes available and I told my wife if I get time I am going to see if I can do that. We would drive by there a couple of times a month, and I would say when I get the time I am going to see if I can do that. Finally, I think my wife got tired of me saying that and for Christmas got me six wood carving classes.”

Johansen’s work has been on display in the library and he will be bringing pieces to the event.
