Work on Phase 2 of the Indianola Square Reconstruction Project continued this week, including completing the storm sewer installation on Howard. Yard hydrants and a meter pit were installed at the intersection of Salem & Howard, pavement removal began on Howard St., and the intersection of Salem Ave and 1st Street was opened.

Over the next week, rock chamber excavation will continue in addition to the installation of subdrains, rock, and subbase, and electrical conduit installation on the inside of the square. Phase 1 work including site finishings such as benches and trash receptacles will begin being installed this week, while plantings and the rest of the Phase 1 projects will begin on May 9th.

Roadway paving on Salem is expected to start on approximately May 9, and the sidewalks installed in front of street facing businesses on Salem is expected to begin
late May early June.
