Pella Christian Golf Finishes 5th on Tiebreaker at Panther Invitational

It was another windy meet for the Pella Christian boys golf squad, and they finished in fifth place due to a tiebreaker with Newton for fourth place as each team had a score of 350 at the Panther Invitational Saturday.

Entering into the final week of the regular season, the Eagles were led on the day by Deacon Branderhorst who finished 12th after carding an 85. Isaiah Breems and Eliot Menninga weren’t far behind they shot an 87 and 88 respectively. Rounding out the lineup for Pella Christian on Saturday was Kyle Gao with a 90 and Landon Fransman with a 99.

The Eagles return to the course tomorrow with the Grinnell Invitational at the Grinnell College Golf Club beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Ranked Eagles Girls Tennis Squad Nabs 3rd at Pella Invitational

The #9 ranked Eagles girls tennis team grabbed a third place at the Pella Invitational Saturday behind the #3 ranked hosts and #2 Waterloo Columbus. Katy Roose finished in third place in the singles tournament by defeating Aubree Blanco of Oskaloosa in the third and fourth place match. Claire Vander Molen gave the Eagles an additional top 10 finish in the signals tournament as she came in sixth place. Also placing top 10 on the day was the doubles team of Sydney Van Arendonk and Tessa Breems. After losing their second match of the day, the duo ran the gauntlet in the consolation bracket to finish fifth. Pella Christian girls tennis along with boys tennis will compete on Monday against Pella at 4:15 p.m.

Pella Christian Boys Soccer Sustains Early Lead to Down Knoxville

For the first time since the first two matches of the season, the Eagles boys soccer squad had their full team Saturday as they defeated Knoxville 2-1.

Alejo Marcon got things started early for Pella Christian as he buried a penalty kick in the third minute of the game. At the 20 minute mark, Aiden Stoltz found Theo Hugen on a cross, and Hugen found the back of the net to score what became the winning goal. From there the Eagles defense took over, shutting out the Panthers for 87 minutes, before Knoxville scored from the top of the box off goalie Keagan Fopma’s hands. 

The win doubled the Eagles win total from last season, as they now sit at 4-5 on the spring. The boys soccer team will look to push their winning streak to three on Monday at West Marshall against Collins-Maxwell at 5:30 p.m. The girls soccer team will also be in action Monday, hosting Knoxville at 5:30 p.m.
