The Indianola City Council failed to pass a pair of bond referendum ballot initiatives at their meeting Monday evening, which would have put a vote to the public on authorizing $27.7 million for a City Hall/Library building and $34.5 million for a new Public Safety Building. Interim City Manager Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News what the next steps for the city are.

“At some point we are going to have to have another discussion with council to see what they want to do next and how they want to move forward. Ultimately, does that look different, can we look at some different combinations of how buildings work together, look at phasing rather than doing both projects at one time, maybe we do one now and another one in 5-10 years I don’t know. There is a lot of data we have to collect from the council to get the direction on how they want to proceed, and then work with our professionals that we have hired through this process to give us the data that we need to make the most informed decision.”
