Knoxville Police were called to the 1000 block of E. Robinson Street on April 27, at approximately 9:10 pm regarding a call about an intoxicated person who was suicidal. Officers met with 43-year-old Jeremy Conner of Knoxville and his family. The officers noticed that Conner showed signs of intoxication, he had a can of beer in his hand and they saw other beer cans present. Conner was in possession of a pistol at the time as well. Officers removed the family from the home. A standoff began between Conner and officers and at one point Conner came out of the home with a rifle in his hands. Officers asked Conner to drop the rifle but Conner did not and at one point walked aggressively toward officers. Conner finally dropped the rifle and went back into his home and a short time later came back out with a revolver. Officers asked Conner to put the revolver down and at first, Conner did not but finally dropped the revolver and reentered the home. Conner later came back out of the house and approached officers quickly. Conner refused commands by officers to stop. Officers deployed a taser and incapacitated Conner. Conner was transported to a local emergency room by Knoxville Rescue where he was treated for injuries. Conner was charged with Interference with Official Acts, a Class D Felony, and Possession or Carrying of Dangerous Weapons while Under the influence a Serious Misdemeanor.
As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
