The Pella boys golf team surged to their best individual meet of the season to win the Little Hawkeye Conference regular season 54-hole tournament. The Dutch shot 314 on a soggy course Tuesday to finish the tournament spread out over three days this spring with a team score of 969, to DCG’s 2nd at 991 and Pella Christian in 3rd at 1027. After entering the final day trailing, Pella’s Will Simpson shot 75 to claim 1st place over the three-tournament event with a score of 227, edging Blake Perrin of DCG (231) and teammate Ayden Gordon (239) in the final standings. Cade McGinley and AJ Hoekstra carded 81s on their home course to round out the Dutch scorecard. The conference meet for the Pella boys awaits them after Tulip Time Monday in Norwalk.
Pella Girls Soccer Thrashed by DCG
The #2 in 2A DCG Mustangs completely dominated #12 in 2A Pella girls soccer team by an 8-0 margin Tuesday evening. Pella falls to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Dutch girls are next in action Tuesday at Grinnell.
