Second-half property taxes were due on March 31, and delinquent tax notices came out on April 29. Marion County Treasurer Michaela Bigaouette spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the deadline to make their tax payments.

“We sent out about 1,000 delinquent notices which are typical at this point in tax collection. An important note is that anything that is unpaid by June 17 will go to the tax sale on June 20. This doesn’t mean that somebody is buying your property at the tax sale, it means that they buy the taxes and the interest rate goes up by two percent each month. If you did receive a notice from our office, the amount on the notice is good through May and you would need to get it to us as soon as possible. If payment is received after May 31, you will need to call our office or check online to get the updated amount.  If you make your payment between June 6 and June 17, we only accept guaranteed funds, which would be cash, certified check, or credit card.
