Norwalk Girls Track and Field Place Second in Home Meet

 

Norwalk’s girls’ track and field squad finished second in their home triangular Thursday.

 

The Warriors finished with 61.5 points, just a half a point behind first-place Dallas Center-Grimes. Norwalk had eight first-place finishes in the meet. Kate Desmond, Kiana Vogel, and Kady Vandermark in their individual events. The team events that Norwalk got first-place finishes in were the 4×100 meter relay, 4×200 meter relay, 4×800 meter relay, 400 meter shuttle hurdle relay, and the distance medley relay.

 

This meet wraps up Norwalk’s regular season. They will be back in action for their state-qualifying meet Thursday at Johnston.

 

Norwalk Boys Soccer Loses to Des Moines East, Girls Soccer Travels to West Des Moines Valley

 

Norwalk’s boys’ soccer squad lost on the road at Des Moines East, while the girls’ soccer squad will travel to No. 1 in Class 3A West Des Moines Valley.

 

The Warriors’ boys had their three-game winning streak snapped with a 1-0 loss to the Scarlets. Norwalk suffered their first loss to Des Moines East in the Varsity Bound era. The Warriors’ loss to Des Moines East drops them to 6-8 on the season. The loss to Des Moines East also marks the fourth time the Warriors have been shut out this season. Norwalk will be back in action for Senior Night Tuesday night against Dallas Center-Grimes.

 

The No. 1 in Class 2A Warriors’ girls will have their toughest match of the season to date, a showdown at No. 1 in Class 3A West Des Moines Valley. Both teams are coming into the match with identical 12-0 records. Norwalk won their previous match over Grinnell Tuesday, 4-1. The two teams met for the first time in the Varsity Bound Era last season, with Norwalk losing, 3-0.

 

The showdown between two of the No. 1 teams in the state at West Des Moines Valley gets underway at 7:00 PM.

 

Norwalk Boys Tennis Canceled, Girls Tennis Travels to Ankeny

 

Due to rainy weather in the forecast, Norwalk’s boys tennis showdown with Ankeny Centennial has been canceled. The Warriors will now take the week off to practice and prepare for regional play, which will be in Marshalltown Monday.

 

The Warriors’ girls tennis squad will have their final meet of the season before postseason play, which will be a quad at Ankeny. Norwalk is coming off defeating Pella Christian in their final dual match of the season, 9-2. The Warriors will compete with the host, Marshalltown, and Southeast Polk.

 

The meet at Ankeny High School begins at 10:00 AM.
