There hasn’t been a lot of “middle ground” in the weather forecasts this spring, outside of maybe the days during Tulip Time in Pella this past weekend.
That trend will swing the opposite direction, according to the National Weather Service. Daytime afternoon highs will reach the upper 80s and possibly top 90 for most of this week, with humidity pushing heat index values in to the low-to-mid 90s. After one of the coolest Aprils in recent memory, the National Weather Service reminds all residents — especially those competing in spring sports this week, to stay hydrated and to prepare themselves for difficult conditions for competition.
Scattered thunderstorms remain possible this evening, some of which may be severe. However, the system is expected to be scattered in nature. This week’s heat is expected to continue through Thursday, before returning to more normal temperatures by the weekend. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for the latest weather information.
