A documentary following the journey of the last several years for the Simpson Women’s Basketball Team has been released by Simpson College student filmmaker Seth Howard. The documentary, titled Do R Thang, follows the players and coaches discussing the historic season for the Storm, who went undefeated in the American Rivers Conference and qualified to the NCAA Tournament before falling in the round of 32. Howard tells KNIA News he wanted to be able to tell the story of a team that had to overcome obstacles to stick together for multiple years including injuries, the pandemic, and more, and seeing how much it meant to the players and their families made all the hard work worth the effort.
“Even though it is a level of entertainment, I don’t think a lot of people get the opportunity to watch a full length documentary about themselves and their careers in college athletics. More than anything, it was really rewarding to see the coaches and players watch it. One of the parents came up to me at graduation and came up to me sobbing and saying how thankful she was being able to relive this over and over again. I’m very very grateful to be able to tell this story.”
