A Pella High School graduate has earned entry into a prestigious honor society while in college. Makenzie Van Maanen is a new member with the Cardinal Key Society at Iowa State University, considered one of the college’s highest honors for academics, and is based upon the four cardinal virtues of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Van Maanen is the daughter of Matt and Michelle of Pella, and is scheduled to graduate in both English and Technical Communications in 2023. She’s been involved in a variety of student organizations at Iowa State, including Alpha Delta Pi sorority, the Iowa State Daily, Sketch, and KAIROS. Makenzie is a 2020 Pella High School graduate, and qualified for state for the NCMP Aquagirls in 2019 and played varsity tennis as a junior.
