Norwalk’s soccer squads came away with a split against Little Hawkeye Conference foe Dallas Center-Grimes, while the girls’ tennis squad begins individual postseason play today.

 

The Warriors’ boys got back in the win column with a victory over Dallas Center-Grimes in penalty kicks, 1-0. The victory for Norwalk is their fourth in their last five matches. The Warriors also now own the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Mustangs for a shot at the Little Hawkeye Conference title. With the win, Norwalk improves to 7-8 on the season, including a 5-1 record in Little Hawkeye Conference play. Norwalk will finish up their regular season Monday at Indianola.

 

The No. 1 in Class 2A Warriors’ girls’ soccer squad lost their second consecutive match on the road, this time 2-1 to No. 2 in Class 2A Dallas Center-Grimes. Norwalk’s lone goal in the match was scored by Addison Burch. With the loss, Dallas Center-Grimes is now in full possession of first place in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Norwalk also suffered their first conference loss of the season, dropping to 12-2 and 5-1 in conference play. Norwalk will be back in action for a home triangular Friday, which will be against two top-ten teams in the state, who are No. 5 in Class 2A and defending 2A state champion Waverly-Shell Rock and No. 6 in Class 2A Lewis Central.

 

The Warriors’ girls’ tennis squad will have individual regional action up in Ames today. Norwalk finished the regular season with a 7-2 match record, including a 4-1 record against Little Hawkeye Conference opponents. The Warriors will compete against the host, Ankeny, Des Moines East, Des Moines Roosevelt, and Urbandale.
