
Norwalk’s girls’ tennis squad will be sending a doubles team to state this season, while both track and field squads will have their state-qualifying meet at Johnston tonight.
The Warriors will be sending Ava and Olivia Johnson to the state tournament this year. Norwalk will be sending their first doubles team to the state tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic. The Warriors also had one third-place finish from Kelsey Dammeier in her singles bracket. Dammeier lost her semifinal match to Angelina Chen from Ames. The Johnson sisters will compete at the state tournament in Waukee Northwest in two weeks.
The Warriors’ track and field squads will take a trip up to Johnston for their state-qualifying meet this year. Both squads are coming off second-place finishes in their final meets of the regular season. Norwalk’s boys placed second in their meet at Little Hawkeye Conference foe Pella Monday, while the Warriors’ girls placed second in their home meet last Thursday. The Warriors will compete with eight other teams, who are the host, Ankeny, Des Moines East, Des Moines Hoover, Des Moines Lincoln, Des Moines Roosevelt, and Dowling Catholic.
The state-qualifying meet at Johnston gets underway tonight at 4:30 PM.
