The Iowa Legislature is still in session as they continue to negotiate several bills including the FY2023 budget and the School Vouchers Bill. State Senator Julian Garrett tells KNIA News there is a fixed timeline they need to get the budget in by, but he doesn’t anticipate it will get to that point, but he doesn’t know when an agreement will be reached.
“My first session in the legislature in 2011, we didn’t adjourn until June 30th. I don’t anticipate that, but that was a contentious session where Democrats controlled the Senate and Republicans controlled the House, and it took until the last day of the fiscal year to get an agreement. Hopefully it won’t take that long, but I don’t have a prediction on how long it might go yet.”
