Norwalk Girls Tennis Finishes Team Season at Dowling Catholic

 

Norwalk’s girls’ tennis squad finished the 2022 season as a team at Dowling Catholic in regional play Tuesday afternoon.

 

The Warriors got the day started with a 5-2 victory over Waukee Northwest. Four of Norwalk’s five victories in the match came in singles play, all coming in straight sets. The state-qualifying doubles team of Olivia and Ava Johnson came away with a victory in the lone doubles match of the day. Unfortunately for Norwalk their season would come to an end later that day against undefeated Dowling Catholic, losing to the Maroons, 5-0.

 

Norwalk will finish the season with a dual record of 8-3. The Johnson sisters will compete in the individual state tournament next week.

 

Norwalk Girls Soccer Ends Regular Season With Dominating Victory

 

No. 2 in Class 2A Norwalk’s girls’ soccer squad capped off a great regular season with a 9-0 shutout victory over Indianola.

 

The Warriors will finish the regular season with a 14-3 record, a 6-1 Little Hawkeye Conference record, and will finish second in the conference. Jocelyn Bice, Braelyn Clark, Addison Burch, Reagan Holtorf, Hailey Schreiber, and Anna Larson all scored goals for Norwalk. Bice, Burch, and Reagan Teut all came away with assists. Bice finished with three goals and two assists on the night.

 

Norwalk has a first-round bye in the playoffs. They will play either Oskaloosa or Fairfield in the second round next Tuesday.

 

Norwalk Baseball Suffers Second Consecutive Shutout

 

Norwalk’s baseball squad continues their rough start to the season, suffering their second shutout in as many games and losing to Waukee 5-0.

 

The Warriors have been outscored in their first two games against Urbandale and Waukee, 9-0, to begin the season. Norwalk has now suffered their 11th consecutive loss against Waukee in the Varsity Bound era. With the loss, Norwalk drops to 0-2 early on in the season and are still looking for their first run scored of 2022.

 

Norwalk will now have their third game in as many days to begin the season as they travel to Boone tonight. First pitch on the diamond gets underway at 7:30 PM.

 

Norwalk Girls Golf Has Regional Meet on Home Course

 

Norwalk’s girls’ golf squad will begin postseason play today on familiar territory at Willow Creek Country Club.

 

The Warriors are coming off finishing with their highest team score of the season in their final meet at Southeast Polk Monday afternoon in a meet that included eight other teams. Three of those teams will compete with Norwalk today. The Warriors will compete with Ankeny, West Des Moines Valley, Southeast Polk, Indianola, Waukee, Johnston, Ottumwa, Des Moines Lincoln, and Des Moines Hoover.

 

The meet at Willow Creek Golf Course gets underway at 9:00 AM.
