The Indianola City Council approved the site plan for a new retail and restaurant building on N Jefferson Way on Monday, allowing construction to begin located in the lot north of Walgreens. Interim City Manager Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News working with property and business owners is part of the long term growth plan for the city.
“We do have a lot of vacant land along Jefferson and really that is the plan for commercial growth. Anytime we can get a new building and new businesses in town, not only does that help our citizens as a whole because we have more services provided to them now that they don’t have to necessarily go to Des Moines to get those services. But also for taxes it helps out as well because you are getting more of that for the city to help offset future costs.”
The project is expected to be completed later this summer.
