Triumph Martial Arts provides free training for all first responders, including paramedics, fire fighters, EMTs, and law enforcement personnel every Saturday morning.
“EMS Week is a great way to help remind us to thank these amazing men and women in our communities. It’s easy to take these services for granted, because they are just always there. But it’s only possible because of people who choose these lines of service,” says Matt White, owner of Triumph.
“Most people realize that law enforcement officers and firefighters put themselves in harm’s way on the job, but they may not consider that emergency medical personnel can also find themselves in situations that threaten their own personal safety,” says White. “First responders get plenty of training in their specialty, but they don’t necessarily get training in how to defend themselves personally in case they are attacked or need to deal with unruly or even violent people they encounter on the job.” From White’s perspective, “If we can help them learn just one physical skill that help keep them safe, then it’s well worth our time.”
Triumph has been partnering with the Pella Police Department for years to promote safety in the community, hosting free community Kids’ Safety events in the past. The 2022 Kids’ Safety Day will be on Saturday, July 23.
