For the third time in five seasons, the Pella Christian girls soccer season came to end at the doorstep of the State Tournament with a 4-0 loss at Nevada Thursday night.

The loss marked the second time in four years that the Cubs have ended the Eagles State Tournament hopes in the Regional Final. Nevada gained the lead in 22nd minute and never looked back. The Eagles held the deficit to 1-0 at halftime, but goals in the 46th, 54th, and 71st minutes by the Cubs put the match out of reach. Despite the four goals, senior goalkeeper Lydia Zylstra made several stops to record 22 saves and increase her season total to 152.

Pella Christian’s girls soccer team finishes the season with an 8-8 record. Of the record 25 girls out for soccer this season, the Eagles graduate six seniors in Marina DeCampos, Sarah Gritters, Paige Lauterbach, Lydia Zylstra, Emily Sytsma, and Abi Maldonado.
