The Pella baseball team continued its early season roll with a six-inning, 12-2 win over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, while the Dutch softball team hit the road and knocked off PCM 7-3 Thursday evening.
A slow three innings offensively for the Dutch to start flipped quickly with a seven-run 4th in baseball. Keegan Hansen was 4-for-5 hitting and Jason Knox added three runs-batted-in. Jack Howard battled through 4 innings on the mound to pick up the win, and Caleb Stewart pitched 2 hitless innings in relief.
Pella’s softball team rallied after falling behind 2-1 in the 3rd, and scored six consecutive runs after that point. Ava Curry hit her first career home run and Payton Lyons, Catrina Dixson, and Ella Corbin each added two hits, with Corbin giving up two earned runs in seven innings in the circle.
The Dutch baseball team is 6-0 and heads to Knoxville today; coverage of that game can be heard on 92.1 KRLS at 7 p.m., while the softball team improves to 2-0 and heads to Grand View Christian this evening.
