Austin McCarl had been looking to get his new car in victory lane in 2022. He finally did it on Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway as he parked the Country Builders Construction car winning the 410 A-Main after battling with runner-up Kerry Madsen and 3rd place finisher Aaron Reutzel. The race went green-to-checkered without a caution and McCarl had to make some bold moves just to keep the lead and hold off Madsen. McCarl told KNIA/KRLS Sports battling lapped traffic trying to run down Madsen and Reutzel made for some tense moments.

McCarl: “I really didn’t know what to do in 1 and 2 behind Kerry. Aaron made a big bomb on me and I thanked him for not sending me through the billboards. I had to crank it down under a lapped car just to get by him.”

Reutzel did not go away totally disappointed as he won the 360 race making it two 360s wins for him this season at Knoxville. Mike Mayberry also won for the 2nd time as he and Tyler Groenendyk batted hard for the first half of the race before Mayberry got some distance in the later laps. It is another full show next week with the 410s making up their A-Main from the early season rain out.
