The Knoxville Softball Squad has been a contender to win the South Central Conference. Last season the Panthers felt it was a disappointing season in the conference with their 3rd place finish. With Albia, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, and Davis County along with Knoxville, Coach Carla Smith tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the SCC can boast of teams that can play with some of the best around.

Smith: “Last year it came down to 4 or five of us contending and if we would have won and Davis County would have won we would have played each other. So it comes down to putting ourselves in a good spot in every game.”

The Panthers first conference game was rained out last week at Davis County and will be made up June 9th. The Panthers will open up the conference season at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Thursday.
