The Norwalk baseball team swept a home doubleheader vs. Ballard Tuesday night, winning by identical 3-2 scores – the night cap in 10 innings – to improve to 6-4 on the year.
In game one, all the scoring took place in the fifth inning as Norwalk answered the Bombers’ two-run top of the frame with a three-spot in the bottom half. Tucker Beving led the Warriors with three hits and one run scored while DJ Harris had two hits and one RBI. Ian Fisher doubled for the team’s only extra-base hit. CJ Davis, one of four Norwalk pitchers, earned the win in relief.
The Warriors won game two in the bottom of the 10th when a Harris walk-off double plated Keefer Saddoris with the deciding run. Beving, Harris and Fisher all had two-hit games.
The Norwalk softball team, meanwhile, lost a 2-1 decision at ADM Tuesday and is now 1-1 overall.
Pitcher Zadie Wadle struck out 12 Tiger batters while allowing just three hits and two walks in defeat. Morgan Weeks, Zadie Wadle and Kaylee Cary had the only three Warrior hits and Addi Downe drove in the only run with a squeeze bunt that plated Weeks.
The Norwalk baseball and softball teams will both play varsity doubleheaders at Pella Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m. Game two of the baseball twin bill can be heard on 92.1 KRLS while game two in softball will be streamed on KNIA3.
