The Pella baseball team’s offense was stifled for the second consecutive game as Gilbert came and dominated the Dutch 7-0 in a non-conference tilt heard live on 92.1 KRLS. The Tigers opened with a pair of two run frames to start and took advantage of three Pella errors and a trio of wild pitches to the push the margin further. One of the main bright spots for the Dutch was the varsity debut of Nathan Vande Lune, who struck out 10 Tigers in 4 1/3 innings of relief. The Dutch avoided being no hit in the 7th inning with pinch hitter Anderson Schirm. Pella falls to 6-2 overall and joins the softball team tonight for a conference opening doubleheader against Norwalk; hear game two of baseball action on 92.1 KRLS, and the softball contest on the KNIA3 stream.
