Cast members of Indianola’s High School spring musical The Sound of Music will have one more chance to perform, performing at the Iowa High School Music Theatre Awards on June 18th. Senior Erica Knupp tells KNIA News the musical was honored with the Outstanding Music Production award which allows them to perform at the showcase, and it will be a great opportunity to get some of the cast back together for one last performance.

“We’ll be performing a three-minute medley from our show, and I’ll sing a 60-90 second solo piece from The Sound of Music. It will be super fun, and will be a great time with the rest of the cast, it will be our last time together. So it will be super fun.”

Individual honors from the performance included:
Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role – Erica Knupp as “Maria Rainer”
Special Recognition in a Principal Role – Oliva Comer as “Liesl von Trapp”
Special Recognition in a Principal Role – Brad Voigt as “Captain Georg von Trapp”
Special Recognition in a Principal Role – Brady Meyers as “Rolf Gruber”

Knupp was also honored with the Triple Threat Award, and will be working with Broadway professionals at the Civic Center with a chance to compete to perform in New York City.
