A rocky start turned into a golden finish for the Pella boys soccer team, as the Dutch defeated Spencer 2-1 in an overtime state quarterfinals thriller heard live on 92.1 KRLS Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers broke away from a Dutch corner kick in the 11th minute to take an early lead and put pressure on the top-seeded Pella boys. A few offensive opportunities late in the first half seemed to reset the Dutch, who turned to the attack to start the 2nd half. Following time out due to a yellow card, Isaac Semini broke loose in the 57th minute, and tied the contest.
