The Marion County Roads Department is into its summer season, and counties around the state have seen the increase in prices of materials and fuel affect their work. Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the issue.
“The rise in gas prices has not affected us to date as we are under a contract for fuel. Those contracts will run out in the next two to three months and our budget for next year, which starts on July 1 was severely impacted by not only fuel but inflation in general. The fuel budget is more than doubled from last year and that still may not be enough. The rise in prices for other materials is a bigger impact as the rise in rock prices and other materials could affect prices.”
