The Pella softball team drew two of the top four ranked teams in Class 3A at the Oskaloosa Invitational, falling to #2 Mount Vernon 14-7 and #4 West Burlington 3-2 on Saturday.

The Dutch took a 7-6 lead into the 6th inning against the Mustangs, only to give up eight runs in that frame. Kylie Tauke highlighted the contest with a grand slam and Ava Curry was 2-for-3.

Pella and West Burlington each scored twice in the first inning of their contest, and the Falcons scored the game winning run in the 2nd before both offenses were shut out. Karmyn Long pitched 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief in the circle and Tori Van Vark was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.

The Dutch softball team is 5-5 overall and hosts Oskaloosa for a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader Monday. Game two can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
