For the second time in four games, the Knoxville Baseball Squad was walked off in the bottom of the 7th this time it was Gilbert breaking the Panthers’ hearts in a 10-9 set back as heard live on 95.3 KNIA. Both teams had big innings in the 2nd as Knoxville grabbed the lead from Gilbert with four runs on three hits while the Tigers responded in the bottom of the 2nd with five runs on eight hits, all of them singles to take the lead 6-4. From there the teams would trade blows with Knoxville tieing the games at six in the 4th inning, but Gilbert regained the lead in the sixth to make it 8-6. Knoxville again retook the lead with three runs in the top of the seventh when Koby Higginbotham tied the game.

But in the end it was not enough as Gilbert got a two- RBI single to win the game in the 7th. Trenton Kingery took the loss while Higginbotham was 2/2 with two RBI and Beau Leisure was 2/4 with an RBI. Knoxville is now 7-5 on the season and will host Albia on Panther Drive tonight.

Ashlyn Finarty hit a three run home run in the bottom of the 7th and the class 4A #14 Knoxville Softball Squad got one of its biggest wins in recent memory in a 5-2 win over 4A #6 Bondurant-Farrar. The Panthers were one strike away from ending it in the top of the 7th when Bondurant-Farrar’s Katelyn Lappe socked a home run to tie it at two. Knoxville would get the 7th going with Charlie Willis reaching, then Jadyn Streigle laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Willis, Emma Dunkin legged out an infield single followed by Finarty’s bomb to left centerfield. Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS Sports it was a great start to a big week of softball.

Dunkin: “It was a very good start to the week and we love coming in on our home field and showing people what we got, and Ciara and Ashlyn did well on the mound and our defense was pretty good, too.”

Ciara Heffron got the win. Knoxville is back on the field hosting Albia on Panther Drive. That game can be heard live on 95.3 KNIA beginning with the pre game at 7:15.
