The Pella baseball team rode the arm of Senior Keegan Hansen to a 2-0 victory over DCG while the Dutch softball team gave up another big inning after a late lead to fall to the Mustangs 9-7 Wednesday night in Dallas Center.

Hansen was brilliant on the mound, striking out 11 to earn a complete game shutout, while Caleb Stewart provided the only two runs batted in during a 2-for-2 performance at the plate, driving in Jason Knox and Cole Hillman.

After a disappointing start to the week, the bats came to life for the Pella softball team, including a 4-for-4 night for Ava Curry and a three-run home run for Kiki Riggen. However, despite carrying a 7-3 lead into the bottom of the 5th inning, the Dutch defense faltered, giving up a six-run frame.

The Pella baseball team improves to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the Little Hawkeye Conference and travels to Saydel for a non-conference tilt tonight, while the Dutch softball team is 5-8 overall and 1-4 against league opponents, and will try to snap a five-game skid tonight out of the conference against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont at home. The Pella softball game will be streamed on Pella Dutch Live.
