A pair of youth camps are returning to Lake Red Rock after a three-year hiatus. Park Ranger Tracy Spry says their Junior Rangers and Outdoor Adventurers camps are coming back for two sessions each. She says the Junior Rangers program is meant for kids ages 8 to 10 years old, and who want to learn what it’s like to be a Park Ranger, on Wednesday, June 22nd and Wednesday, July 27th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spry says the Outdoor Adventurers camp is for kids 11 to 12 years old, who want to learn a variety of basic survival skills, such as how to build a fire, make an emergency shelter, perform basic wilderness first aid, learn basic GPS skills, and paddle a kayak, and will be held on Thursday, June 23rd and Thursday, July 21st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Space is limited for both programs at Lake Red Rock, and registration is required by contacting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at (641) 828-7522.
