Dixie Gebhardt House
The Knoxville City Council and Knoxville Public Library Board held a work session Monday night to discuss the Dixie Gebhardt house. The Library Board recommended that the house be redeveloped into the Dixie Gebhardt Park because costly renovations and ongoing maintenance that are needed are unsustainable. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery spoke with KNIA/KRLS News about the next steps for the City Council.
“The Council has directed staff to seek out more information so that a decision can be on how to proceed forward. The staff will receive quotes for potential relocation, demolition of the house, and building of a programmable park. The City will also start a process for expressions of interest to allow any parties an opportunity to provide proposals if they are interested in the property. More information on the proposed next steps and for expressions of interest will be on our June 20 City council agenda.”
